New Sibling

Capturing precious moments between siblings is magical and being able to have those images to keep forever and look back on with your children when they are older is priceless.
I had the pleasure of visiting Katie and her family to photograph their daughter Ellie with her new little brother Freddie.

Katie and her family were part of my ‘lockdown doorstep’ project, this was back when Ellie was tiny so it was only natural we recreate the image with Freddie. I have a blog post all about this project if you would like to find out more.

Like all of my sessions this was informal and relaxed, enabling me to catch natural moments between the family, whether that be cuddles, playing with toys and generally letting the children do their own thing and click away with only a few pointers from me.

Luckily the weather was pleasant which meant we were able to get some photos outside playing in the autumn leaves. This is also a great way to keep children interested, especially toddlers, by changing the location and doing something outside.

It was important to get some detailed shots of Freddie so this gave Ellie the chance to have a little break from being followed by me and my camera. I have a hands off approach to newborns and tiny babies and like to take photos of them in their parents arms or in their cots/moses baskets/ blankets rather than posing them.

It was a joy to revisit Katie and see how her family is growing and it’s a privilege to be able to document these moments.
