I had the pleasure of having a photoshoot with this gorgeous Mama and her 3 boys. Diana wanted some relaxed images of her children playing and being themselves at home and in the garden. These boys were absolute naturals and a joy to work with.

We really made the most of their gorgeous garden with lots of fun things for the kids to do, the boys played football, climbed trees, stood on the gates and generally just went about their day whilst I snapped away.

It’s always so fun when there are things in the garden for the kids to play with and we definitely made the most of the trampoline, football and triple swings. This allows children to be more comfortable in front of the camera and we achieve a more ‘fly on the wall’ approach to their images to capture how they interact with each other.

I always find with little ones the easiest way to get the most from their shoot is to let them just be them, do their thing and I capture exactly who they are and their unique personalities. It takes a lot of pressure off the parents worrying that children wont smile on command, wont sit nicely for a posed image and it’s important for me to read the children’s moods in the moment and if they really aren’t feeling it that’s absolutely fine, they are little people who love to play and run around and their least favourite thing is sitting still so we give them 5 minutes to blow off some energy, do their thing and in the meantime I snap away in the background and often capture the best images of them during those 5 minutes.
