Yorkshire Muddings has my heart! I have had the pleasure of being both a customer of Yorkshire Muddings and working with them professionally for their family photo session.

If you haven’t visited Yorkshire Muddings before it is a magical spot within the forest in Buttercrambe just on the outskirts of York. Children have an abundance of natural play settings, crafts using woodland materials, trees to climb and just to top it all off; smores and hot chocolate around a campfire.

Time outdoors is so incredibly important for all of us but especially children. Getting away from the screens and out in nature, learning about the world around us and the joy of being outside and playing. Children come alive in this limitless environment. There is no end point to their play, they can continue to create, run, climb, jump and dig to the hearts content. Yorkshire mudding’s sessions are open in most weathers and it’s so true when people say kids don’t care about the weather. I have taken my daughter here in rain, sun and snow and she’s had the best time. Just select the correct clothing for the environment and you’re good to go! Top tip on one of the hottest days of the year the forest is the place to be as it is naturally sheltered and cool.

Yorkshire Muddings partnered with me to give their customers a family photo session in the woods. I captured images of parents playing with their children and as and when they wanted to we had some family group shots on the tree stumps. These natural photos of families enjoying time together are precious and more relaxed than a standard family photo session. They don’t require the children to do anything other than play. There was no forced smiles, no fancy backdrops just natural documentary photography of families having fun.
